Oh girl

Tried to take a picture showing the texture of the paint. I painted white acrylic on paper, and it picked up some pink from the brush. Pat wanted me to play with more wet media, so here goes nothing...

Visual Perspective

Remember that last post, Dec 4th? It's the same image, only this time we had to draw the model somewhere in the environment as if there were two models. Volume and depth were kept in perspective.

During our life drawing session, Pat wanted us to draw the model in motion, all withihn the same plane and keeping the visual perspective.

Either I'm really short, but this final assignment was annoying to lug around schoo since it was massive.Implementing elements of the umbrella sketches and sketches of Grey Nuns, the objective of this assignment was to create a space/environment with form and using line/mark/ to display volume.

april-november SKETCHBOOK DUMP v2.0

OK, so this week, has been pretty hectic. I had 15 hours of sleep, total. Yea. This included a 5ft drawing, a flash game, a coffee table, and a 19 page documentation/lookbook that needed to be done. On the plus side, I finished another sketchbook, so I'll be sharing you some pages. Will this cover my lack of daily updates since last week? I think so.

We had life drawing a few weeks ago, and I absolutely enjoyed it. Working with charcoal and newsprint brings me great enjoyment. I haven't used charcoal for life for a while, so it was nice to warm up and get used to it again.

Umbrella 2009
pencil crayon on bond paper.

Once again, I apologize for the shoddy documentation. Umbrellas are a pain to draw. Immensely fun, but a pain.

For a couple of weeks in my DRAW 200 class, we had to draw a figure, and emphasis its form through line. I decided to tackle an umbrella. More views to come.

So in my attempt to update more often {seriously, school+work+creativity does not balance well in my mind} I will have it so every day this month, I will update everyday! Be it past work, current work or some photography, I SHALL BE POSTING. Think of it as a little xmas gift. Also, this way I will be able to keep up on myself and my artwork. Enjoy!

I have a complex love-hate relationship with charcoal. It's lovely, thick, rich, easy to use and erase. It's also very crumbly, smudgy, and messy. Here's a drawing assignment of a still life (aka things thrown on my floor) and then drawn to map out its planes and form. And yes, that is indeed a Hello Kitty clock. Shut up.

une chaise.

When I should be sleeping, I am up like a moth, attracted to the weak glow of my desk lamp. After a month of school, I have so many projects and art pieces that have simply been pulled out of my brain like a magician pulling ribbons from his sleeve. Some are good, and some, not so good. But that's ok. I have all year to improve.

Quick sketch of a chair. Pen on paper.

Now this poster is a class assignment, where we had to cram a lot of information in one space, and how to use this space effectively. Autumn really got to me, as you can see with the greenery.

Also! Please check out my DART website, you get to check out first hand my nifty flash intro, which was done with a lot of help from several classmates, due to my limited knowledge with the program.

Labels or love

Just a quickie post of the painting I did for my cousin as a gift for her stagette. I apologize for the poor quality of the painting. I am back in Montreal, and my creative juices are flowing like a river! Will update with more artsy goodness soon.

silence & chaos

graphite pencil on mayfair, drawing of ceramic busts, figure study.
These renderings are done on huge mayfair sheets, as I enjoy drawing on bigger sheets to be able to use all of my arm movements. Each took several hours to draw.
When there's nothing left to you, take pictures, draw, and dream. I have a month to paint 4 canvases for my cousin as a stagette gift!

Strawberry Fields and Forever

Woke up this morning to a horrible nightmare about clay lizards, rice, taxis, London, Farm Boy and cute boys. I like to play with my breakfast food.
